Three Sisters Basket

Description:

Three spirals, made with pine needles and sinew. This basket represents the three main companion plants that were a staple to Indigenous people. They also represent a philosophy of reciprocity, balance, cooperation, and interdependence. Corn, beans, and squash were essential to Indigenous People throughout Turtle Island. They were considered sacred life-sustaining agriculture and are deeply tied to women who were viewed as caretakers of the earth.
